The Katy Trail is a treasured Dallas greenspace and one of the most important public spaces and destinations in the city.  Since 1997, when a visionary group of neighbors proposed turning the abandoned Union Pacific railroad line into a greenbelt park, the mission of Friends of the Katy Trail has been to maintain, enhance, and advocate for the Katy Trail as the premier trail for recreation, wellness, and alternative transportation in the City of Dallas.

While the Katy Trail land is owned by the City of Dallas, the Trail is almost entirely community-funded.  Friends of the Katy Trail is responsible for raising the funds needed to keep the Trail clean, safe, and beautiful.

This is an exciting time to become involved with the Katy Trail.  The pandemic has shown the essential role the Katy Trail plays in the mental and physical health of Dallas, and the Trail now has 1.5 million visits per year.  Plus, this year Friends of the Katy Trail will celebrate 25 years of managing the Trail for the benefit of citizens and visitors.  In 2022, we are expanding our exciting new Katy Trail Art initiative; continuing to grow membership, corporate, and other support; hold another successful Katy 5K and fun member socials; and more.

Friends of the Katy Trail is so grateful to have the support of Run Project!  Your runners can partner with the Katy Trail through memberships, sponsorships, and individual and corporate support.  Please join us!

If you love and use the Katy Trail, please become a member!  Individual annual memberships start at just $75.00.    The coveted Katy Trail T-shirts are complimentary with a $250+ membership.  Members can attend our first 2022 Member Social happy hour on March 23 at Chelsea Corner and more fun events throughout the year.  Visit https://katytraildallas.org/membership/
