Sometimes a race really does live up to its name.
Out of an abundance of caution—and with the safety and well-being of our runners, volunteers, vendors, and staff as our top priority—we have made the difficult decision to reschedule the 2026 Too Cold To Hold Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K at Norbuck Park. The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026, will now take place on Sunday, February 8, 2026, with an 8:00 AM start. The location and overall timeline remain the same.
Why the Change?
While daytime temperatures may allow for some thawing, a re-freeze is expected Friday night. That means surfaces that appear wet or clear can refreeze overnight, creating slick and unsafe conditions on trails and throughout the venue early Saturday morning. These conditions increase the risk of slips and falls—especially in shaded areas that don’t warm as quickly.
After closely monitoring forecasts and following City of Dallas weather contingency guidance and safety measures, we determined that postponing is the safest path forward. It’s not an easy call, but it’s the right one.
