Dallas Animal Services (DAS) is one of the largest dog/cat intake shelters in the country, caring for 28,000+ pets each year. Despite caring for this volume of animals, DAS works hard to ensure compassionate care of all shelter animals and find positive outcomes for all placeable pets.
Friends of Dallas Animal Services (FODAS) is the official, non-profit fundraising partner to DAS. Founded by a small group of DAS volunteers, we raise funds to help bridge the gap between what the city budget provides to DAS and the costs of lifesaving programs and services.
Since our founding in 2019, our generous community of donors has provided over $1.5 million dollars in financial support to DAS in four main program areas – enrichment, foster, medical, and general shelter support.
Recently, FODAS donors funded new elevated beds for shelter pets (enrichment), robust kits to set kitten foster families up for success (foster), relief veterinarian shifts to increase the volume of spay/neuter surgeries in-shelter (medical), and field cameras and equipment to help Animal Control Officers catch extra-elusive stray dogs (general support).
All of these projects make a difference in the lives of animals and people in Dallas and wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our donors!
