Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common inquiries about race results, timing, and result disputes.

Yes! The 5K is professionally chip timed. You’ll receive an official finish time, live results, and can compare your performance with other runners in your distance.

Yes. The course is designed to be enjoyable for runners of all experience levels, but participants should be able to maintain approximately a 16-17 minute per mile pace to finish before course support begins closing. Final time limits will be published before race day.

Turkey Trot USA is a rain-or-shine event, and we’ll race in most weather conditions. In the event of severe weather—such as lightning, flooding, or other conditions that could impact participant safety—we may delay, modify, postpone, or cancel the event. Any updates will be communicated as quickly as possible via email, text message (if opted in), and our social media channels.

Yes! Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, overall masters, and the top finishers in each age group. Every participant also receives a custom finisher medal upon completing the course.

Yes. If your plans change, Race Roster allows participants to transfer their registration to another runner or transfer to another eligible Run Project event before the published deadline. Visit your Race Roster account for available transfer options.

Free parking is available throughout Historic Downtown Roanoke, with additional public parking lots within a short walk of the start line.

A race-week parking guide will be emailed before Thanksgiving.

Yes! Thanksgiving costumes are encouraged!

Turkey suits, pilgrim hats, pumpkin outfits, matching family costumes, inflatables—we love seeing creative race-day spirit.

Awards will be given for the best costumes.

Absolutely! The Turkey Trot USA course is mostly flat and designed for runners and walkers of all abilities.

Whether you’re chasing a PR, jogging with family, pushing a stroller, or participating in your very first race, you’ll feel right at home.

Yes!  Strollers are welcome at Turkey Trot USA. For everyone’s safety, we ask that participants with dogs or strollers line up toward the back of the starting corral and remain courteous to other runners and walkers throughout the course. Please clean up after your pet and keep dogs under control at all times.

Please note: Service animals are always welcome.

Yes! Aid stations will be located along the course with water and hydration available to help keep runners fueled throughout the race. The exact locations will be announced closer to race day.
