INGREDIENTS
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 large yellow onion, sliced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 lb bratwurst sausages links, uncooked
- 1 bottle of beer (pick your fav!)
- 1/2 head green cabbage, cut into wedges
- 1/2 head purple cabbage, cut into wedges
- 2 tbsp avocado oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
FOR SERVING:
- Pick your favorite mustards… dijon, grainy, yellow!
- 1/2 lemon, cut into wedges
- 1 cup sauerkraut (a MUST in my book)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Turn the oven on to 400-450 degrees F.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Add the onions, salt, and pepper, and cook for 3-4 min, until the onions are tender.
- Place sausages into the onions and pour the beer into the skillet. Cook 2 min each side and until the beer has evaporated. Plate sausages. I like to use a large flat platter.
- Place cabbage in a single layer across a sheet pan with a rim. Brush or spray both sides of the cabbage with the oil and season with salt and pepper.
- Place cabbage in the oven. Cook for 4 min then turn over and cook for another 4 min.
- Add bratwursts to the sheet pan to cook until golden brown, 2-3 minutes a side.
- On the large platter, plate the cabbage and drizzle with lemon juice. Add the sausage and onions alongside the cabbage. Serve with lemon wedges, sauerkraut and a sides of your favorite mustards.
