Love is in the air…and on the trails. Here are the most romantic spots to run in DFW.

By: Rob Ostrout

February is here and love is in the air. If you’re like me, you’re looking for a romantic spot to run or walk with your special someone in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex?  Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Scenic Parks:
    • Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden: Stroll hand-in-hand through beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy stunning views of the Dallas skyline.
    • Klyde Warren Park: This urban park built over a freeway offers a unique setting for a run or walk, with food trucks, outdoor events, and skyline views.
    • Fort Worth Botanic Garden: Explore a variety of gardens, including the Japanese Garden and the Rose Garden, and take a romantic walk along the Trinity Trails.
  • Picturesque Trails:
    • Katy Trail: This popular trail winds through Dallas, offering a mix of urban and natural scenery, with plenty of opportunities for people-watching and stopping for a coffee or a snack.
    • White Rock Lake Trail: Enjoy a scenic run or walk around White Rock Lake, with views of the water, wildlife, and the Dallas skyline.
    • Trinity Trails: This extensive trail system connects many parts of the DFW metroplex, offering a variety of routes and scenery to explore.
  • Charming Neighborhoods:
    • Bishop Arts District: This trendy neighborhood in Oak Cliff is known for its eclectic shops, restaurants, and art galleries, and its walkable streets are perfect for a romantic stroll.
    • Deep Ellum: Dallas’s vibrant entertainment district is home to live music venues, bars, and restaurants, and its colorful murals and street art provide a unique backdrop for a run or walk.
    • Sundance Square: Fort Worth’s historic downtown district is a great place to explore on foot, with its red-brick buildings, Western-themed shops, and lively atmosphere.
  • Special Events:
    • Outdoor Concerts and Festivals: Check local event listings for outdoor concerts and festivals taking place in February, which can provide a fun and romantic atmosphere for a run or walk.

Remember to check the weather forecast before heading out, and dress appropriately for the conditions. And don’t forget to bring water and snacks to stay hydrated and energized during your romantic outing.
