Join the Fight Against Suicide: Mental Health Awareness Month

The month of May is dedicated to Mental Health Awareness, where the aim is to increase awareness and understanding of mental health and mental illness. This month is a time to educate people on the importance of mental health and to encourage them to seek support and treatment when necessary. It’s also an opportunity to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and promote mental wellness. 

Run Project has joined hands with the Central Texas Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) by featuring them at the Badass Texas Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. The aim is to unite people from all walks of life who are committed to preventing suicide in our communities. AFSP’s grassroots efforts focus on reducing the incidence of suicide by delivering innovative prevention programs, educating the public about risk factors and warning signs, raising funds for suicide research and programs, and providing support to those who have lost someone to suicide.

In 2021, there were an estimated 1.70M suicide attempts

It is of utmost importance to raise awareness about suicide prevention and provide the necessary support and resources to those who may be struggling. That’s why the Run Project’s goal is to highlight the expertise of organizations like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Through their excellent resources and initiatives, AFSP has been actively working towards reducing the rate of suicide and supporting those who have been affected by it. By promoting AFSP and their work, we hope to equip our community with the knowledge and tools necessary to better tackle this issue and provide support to those who may need it.
