Grilled Smoked Turkey Meatballs

CREATED BY: Shandrea Middlebrook from TasteCation

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean recommended for moisture)
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tbsp dried)
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Kinder’s “The Blend” or Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Olive oil spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (around 350–375°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix gently until just combined—don’t overwork the meat.
  3. Form mixture into meatballs (about 1.5 inches in diameter). You should get 16–20.
  4. Lightly oil grill grates or use a grill mat. Place meatballs on the grill.
  5. Grill for 15-18 minutes, turning occasionally to get an even sear and internal temp of 165°F.
  6. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

TasteCation Tips: For extra smoky flavor, use wood chips (apple or hickory) in your grill or pellet smoker. Swap the onion for shallots and traditional breadcrumbs for your favorite croutons (but in food processor to get fine texture).
